F. in his signature.<br \/>\nMany years ago, after mom died, father Alfred escaped Pennsylvania to a nondescript place SW of West Palm Beach. Official name was Greenacres.  This isn&#8217;t far from Lake Okeechobee and the towns of  Pahokee (considered Mel Tillis&#8217; hometown \u2013 we drove there for a look at the Lake) and Clewiston. No one cared about Clewiston until the pony got loose. <\/p>\n<p>A local police officer, named Buffie McLeod, {Buffie? } and partner Jennifer Diaz got the call. A tiny horse was on the run. All of maybe 3 feet tall, the brown miniature pony, its hairy mane flopping around, was spotted running on historic highway #27.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/good-news\/escaped-pony-escorted-home-by-police-cruiser\/ar-AAwnfB7?li=BBnbcA1\"><strong>Run Alfred, run!<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sun-sentinel.com\/news\/florida\/fl-reg-pony-police-escort-clewiston-20180426-story.html\"><strong>More about Alfred<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #FF0000;\">Item #2: A  beaver named Justin<\/span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/rocknponderosa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/B-b2-Justin-182x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"182\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-7088\" srcset=\"http:\/\/rocknponderosa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/B-b2-Justin-182x300.jpg 182w, http:\/\/rocknponderosa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/B-b2-Justin.jpg 315w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 182px) 85vw, 182px\" \/><br \/>\nIn this case the missing was a beaver named Justin, a beloved taxidermied one. I would call it &#8220;stuffed&#8221; but am told that word is for pork chops and Chicken Cordon Bleu {and how did that get started?}.<br \/>\nSo Justin Beaver went missing, and now is back.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/british-columbia\/justin-beaver-chilliwack-1.4637647\"><strong>All&#8217;s well<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This reminds me of a story about a train derailment<br \/>\nSee: <a href=\"http:\/\/cs.trains.com\/mrr\/f\/13\/t\/65793.aspx\"><strong>Off again, on again &#8230;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #FF0000;\">Item #3: A devil named Tasmanian<\/span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/rocknponderosa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/B-b3-Tasmanian-devil-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-7087\" srcset=\"http:\/\/rocknponderosa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/B-b3-Tasmanian-devil-200x300.jpg 200w, http:\/\/rocknponderosa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/B-b3-Tasmanian-devil.jpg 241w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 85vw, 200px\" \/><br \/>\nI know you have been as worried as I have been about the Tasmanian Devil, the carnivorous marsupial of the land down under.<br \/>\nHere using a cute photo, but they are noted for their ferocity when feeding. One doesn&#8217;t want to get between one and its next meal.<\/p>\n<p>The Wikipedia entry explains: <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tasmanian_devil#Devil_facial_tumour_disease\"><strong>devil facial tumour disease (DFTD)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So along comes a study that says somewhat like Mark Twain, &#8220;the reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.&#8221;<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2018-04-28\/healthy-population-of-devils-discovered-in-remote-south-west-tas\/9706864\"><strong>Healthy Tasmanian devils found<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, the photo of the region in this link was supplied by the Toledo Zoo, but whether Spain or Ohio is not mentioned. Geographers want to know.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #FF0000;\">Item #4:  Truckers unite!<\/span><br \/>\nI&#8217;m going to call this a good outcome.  In the long run, the man involved needs help. Hope he gets it.<br \/>\nHowever, from the photo, there seems to be space between the trailers.  So, I guess, there is not enough information.<br \/>\nThere are photos, but I haven&#8217;t included one.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fox2detroit.com\/news\/local-news\/13-semis-line-detroit-freeway-to-help-man-considering-suicide\"><strong>semis help prevent suicide<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #FF0000;\">Item #5:  Odd twist to a bacon eating contest<\/span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/rocknponderosa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/B-b4-bacon-300x280.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"280\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-7086\" srcset=\"http:\/\/rocknponderosa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/B-b4-bacon-300x280.jpg 300w, http:\/\/rocknponderosa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/B-b4-bacon.jpg 344w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 85vw, 300px\" \/><br \/>\nThey know him as Zack.<br \/>\nZack rode into town, ate bacon faster than the locals, and left.<\/p>\n<p>This reminds me of a western (novel &#038; ) movie with Alan Ladd playing Shane.<br \/>\n <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shane_(film)\"><strong>Shane, the film<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Organizers of the Air Capitol Bacon &#038; Beer Festival put out a call in the hopes of identifying this bacon champion of the midwest.<br \/>\nSo far, Zack, remains the mysterious stranger.
