Earlier, those with a raspberry color were in the majority.  They seem to share the Black Oil Sunflower seeds. We chase larger birds, except Quail.<br \/>\n  20 minutes later a dozen Dark-eyed Juncos showed up.<br \/>\nOther outside news: I opened the garden gate where established Strawberries grow.  These are supposed to be mowed and cleaned after harvest. I let the deer do this. After a few days I close them out again and let the plants start to grow.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #FF0000;\">Item #2: Attitude <\/span><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/rocknponderosa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Moose-baby-169x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-6928\" srcset=\"http:\/\/rocknponderosa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Moose-baby-169x300.jpg 169w, http:\/\/rocknponderosa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Moose-baby.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 169px) 85vw, 169px\" \/>If you have a good Picture Dictionary and look up the word &#8220;attitude&#8221;, you will find a photo of a Moose.<\/p>\n<p>At the link below, when you click to start the video, a short ad runs \u2013 just a few seconds \u2013 then the actual video will play.  It is just over 2 minutes.<br \/>\nA person in a vehicle would like to get by the animal and seems to expect a Moose will get the hint and leave the road.<br \/>\nThe driver should have known better. That&#8217;s the part of Canada that hangs out into the North Atlantic Ocean.<br \/>\nThe owners brought it inside, thawed some fish, and after a good meal and a cozy night in a warm house, the bird headed out the next day in, seemingly, fine shape.<br \/>\n <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/newfoundland-labrador\/cormorant-rescue-south-river-1.4584059\"><strong>Cormorant Dinner and a Room<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cornell Lab of Ornithology {may be a slow loading site} <a href=\"https:\/\/www.allaboutbirds.org\/guide\/Great_Cormorant\/overview\"><strong>LINK<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\nhttp:\/\/plants.newfoundlandflorist.com\/11090005\/Plant\/247\/Tatarian_Honeysuckle\n\"><strong>Tatarian Honeysuckle  <\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I always wonder where the names for plants come from, and go to this site for information: <a href=\"\nhttp:\/\/www.calflora.net\/botanicalnames\/index2.html\n\"><strong> Latin and Greek Meanings<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For the common honeysuckle in Newfoundland Michael Charters tells us: <em>Lonicera tatarica<\/em> comes from:<br \/>\nLonic&#8217;era: named for Adam Lonitzer (1528-1586), a German herbalist;<br \/>\nand \u2026<br \/>\ntatarica  means a native to Siberia &#8212; refers to the Tatars<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #FF0000;\">And that, for this week, is the not so nasty news.<br \/>\nJohn<br \/>\nxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Item #1: Little BirdsThis group is mostly Gold Finches.
