\nOne of the biggest rubbish dumps in South America has closed in Brazil after almost 60 years.

\nGood news, then, that it has been closed. But maybe not in the short term for the people of the nearby favela<\/em>, Portuguese for slum. Folks have made a living for 67 years by sorting through the garbage. They have been offered new employment in a cleaner environment, a recycling job.
\nSome are not happy with the change, but this seems like good news to me. Maybe in a year or so, they will think so too. <\/p>\n
