This is called a  Remembrance Poppy. <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Remembrance_poppy\"><strong>LINK<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nLocal Veterans groups set up in the foyer of our usual grocery store and seek donations and have several items to give away. I usually give $5 and, once the poppy is on the hat, doubles its value.  I sometimes have to get a new one, but 2016\u2019s was in excellent shape, so for 2017 I gave another $5.
