\nFriday morning revealed I had help from a beaver(s). Not that I wanted help because 6 small trees I intended to leave — were gone. The path they took to and from the creek (15 feet long and down about 6 feet) was easily seen.
\nOn the left is a small tree (not taken) showing the trimmed lower 18 inches. That tree is 10 feet tall. On the right is one of the ones severed by the beaver. It appears they start low and remove material in an upward direction. It, also, was 10 to 12 feet tall. For big trees, they will cut them down, take the limbs off, and drag those away. They will leave me with the trunk to cut, store, and burn. [green is not part of the tree]

\nNorth of me 50+ miles and on the east side of the Columbia River,

a fire started just after midnight {Fri\/Sat}. It is burning up a rugged hillside in mostly grass and small brush. The few people living there have been told to evacuate. The wind in that area is “not much” compared to me. There: single digits. Here: 30mph sustained, gusts to 40; decreasing through the night.\n
